VCR/Video Recorders Below
is our selection of video recorders. You have your camera, you're ready to go. But now you need to be able to record this footage. You could use a 3" monitor and VCR combo, that fits in your pocket. Or you could get a time lapse VCR, and record up to 960 hours on a single tape, that's 40 days without changing a tape. Regular VCRs record at what is known as "real time". The vast majority of recordings are in real time. This is anywhere between 15 and 60 frames per second (FPS). This goes through the average tape within roughly 8 hours. You can imagine going through 3 tapes a day, inefficient and expensive. Thus the time lapse VCR comes along. Now, you can record up to 960 hours on a regular tape (roughly 40 days). Basically, all a time lapse VCR does, is record less frames per second than regular real time. By doing this it is able to fit much more on a single tape. Even further, combine a time lapse VCR and VMD (Video Motion Detection), and a single tape can last months. |
